Start a Bright Pink Chapter

The Bright Pink Ambassador Program
A Bright Pink Ambassador is a high-energy young woman who is ready to take on the challenge of launching a Bright Pink chapter in her hometown. This highly motivated individual must be a woman between the ages of 18 and 45 who has been touched by breast or ovarian cancer. She need not be at high-risk herself, but it is critical that the Ambassador helps to organize and facilitate a Bright Pink group that is made up of women who are at high-risk for breast and/or ovarian cancer. She must be passionate about the Bright Pink mission and have a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Bright Pink Ambassadors embody the organization and become brilliant and bold leaders in their communities by:
  • Recruiting and developing an executive team of volunteer leaders
  • Hosting outreach events that provide support and a sense of community to high-risk young women
  • Organizing Breast/Ovarian Health 101 educational workshops to educate and empower young women
  • Representing Bright Pink at community health fairs
  • Distributing educational literature to medical professionals in an effort to incite potentially life-saving conversations between doctors and patients about breast and ovarian cancer risk.
  • Hosting events, which raise awareness and important funds for the continued development and expansion of Bright Pink’s educational and outreach programs.

How to Become a Bright Pink Ambassador
Step 1. Check the “Join a Bright Pink Chapter” page to see if a chapter already exists in your city. If it does, please first sign up by clicking here. Then, reach out to your local Ambassador to express your interest in getting involved. It is very important to sign up before emailing an Ambassador so we that we can ensure you make it on to that location’s distribution list. If a Bright Pink chapter does not exist in the location where you live, please proceed to step 2.

Step 2. In order to qualify your location as a possible Bright Pink chapter and apply to become a Bright Pink Ambassador, you must first complete the Pink Your City Pledge. The Pink Your City Pledge is a critical first step as it allows Bright Pink to identify a need for the organization in your community while offering you the chance to demonstrate your leadership ability and commitment to the organization. Additionally, by beginning to generate interest, support and helpful resources, the Pledge positions you to launch a successful Bright Pink chapter. For more information and to learn more about the Pink Your City Pledge, contact us at PinkYourCity@BeBrightPink.org.

Step 3. Once your location has fulfilled all of the components of the Pink Your City Pledge,
you are then eligible to apply to become a Bright Pink Ambassador. The next deadline for Ambassador applications is February 1, 2012. Applications will then be reviewed, and the accepted Bright Pink chapters will be announced on April 1, 2012.
